Roast Profile: Rich, Deep, Heavy Body. Dark Roast Color. Sweetness: Sweet Thick Syrup.

According to an article titled 'The Origins of Coffee,' saint Baba Budan, on his pilgrimage to Mecca, traveled through the seaport of Mocha, Yemen where he discovered coffee. To introduce its taste to India, he wrapped seven coffee beans around his belly and got them out of Arabia. On his return home, he planted the beans in the hills of Chikkamagaluru, which are now named Baba Budan Hills in his honor.

The name may lend itself to a few bawdy jokes but the name, Mysore 'Gold' Nuggets, actually points to the top grade of India's flagship Arabica coffee. The Indian coffee district of Mysore is the location of the gold fields in India, hence the 'Gold Nuggets' element to the coffee name. The trees cultivated here produce a uniquely large bean - the term 'nuggets' has been applied both as a reference to the productive gold fields, and as a compliment to the size and quality of the coffee beans.

While these Indian beans are still vastly under-represented in the American coffee market, Mysore coffee deserves some serious attention. Exposed to monsoon winds and rain - which pump the beans with moisture and smooth-out their unusually woody flavors - this is a truly remarkable coffee. You will find this exotic coffee to be sweet, spicy, and super rich with a deep, earthy, confectioner's chocolate taste. The beans produce a rich, delicious cup with surprising spice & delicate sweetness, complimented by medium acidity and an exotic aroma. Expect a long finish, with cedar, nutmeg, and hints of clove.

I almost always use a little cream and sugar however this..., black. Delicious!
If freshness wasn't so fleeting I would load up on this. A new favorite.
Thanks Seth!

Please dont buy! December 16, 2008

This is hands down the best coffee I have ever tasted. So...please don't buy any. I HATE when OBR runs out of this! I have served this coffee to many friends who think "all coffee tastes the same" only to have them ask, "where can I get this?" I always include this in my order when it's available. This is the one I just can't do without.

another truly unique jem from seth December 6, 2008

Incredible coffee. great depth, great diversity. I made the mistake of buying this and the Ethiopian harrarr horse at the same time. I alternate between the two and cannot decide which is superior. Both are full of surprises and subtleties that are seldom found in coffees purchased elsewhere. I have no idea how Seth consistantly uncovers these jems.

After many years of being a Organic Coffee drinker, I can state with 100% certainty that Seth's roasts are the best by far! This coffee just gets better with every sip, I always hate to see the bottom of my coffee mug approaching!

Amazing December 1, 2007

I ONLY buy coffee from Seth and this is my absolute favorite.  Besides loving it every morning, I serve it to teach my friends and colleagues that truly good coffee can be sweet without adding a single granule of sweetner.  Unreal.  The name still has my husband in hysterics.
