Coffee was introduced into India when the first coffee crop was grown in the Chikkamagaluru Hills during 1670 AD. According to the article Origins of Coffee, the saint Baba Budan on his pilgrimage to Mecca traveled through the seaport of Mocha, Yemen where he discovered coffee. To introduce its taste to India, he wrapped seven coffee beans around his belly and got them out of Arabia. On his return home, he planted the beans in the hills of Chikkamagaluru, which are now named Baba Budan Hills in his honor.

The Indian coffee district of Mysore is the location of the gold fields in India, hence the name "Nuggets". The overall taste profile is very unique, with spicy overtones. You find hints of earthiness that is very interesting and exotic, similar to Indonesian origins like Sulawesi and Sumatra. There are hints of spice (perhaps because India coffees are often grown with cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves and pepper ) You will find this exotic coffee to be sweet, spicy, super rich with a deep earthy sweet black baking chocolate taste. There's the unmistakable hint of hot leather saddles and the spice of Muscat raisins. I was shocked by my first cup, I thought I had tasted everything!
