Fazenda Aurea is located in a region called Serra do Salitre, a high plain in Cerrado Mineiro, in the state of Minas Gerais. Minas Gerais is in the west of the southeastern subdivision of Brazil, the second most populous of the 26 states of Brazil, and fourth largest by area in the federation. Unlike most of our authentic, small-farm varietals, this particular water-process coffee is no Micro Lot; this is a big farm that produces a lot of this coffee.

Brazilian coffee is intriguing - there's almost no explaining it to the uninitiated. There's a most powerful and unusual aroma to this coffee; the smell is thick, powerful, and pleasing. Having said as much, understand that this is a wonderful coffee in the cup - simple, soft, almost velvety across the tongue, clean & unusually sweet. Given it's moderate acidity and intense aroma, you taste this coffee more in the back of your mouth than on the tip of your tongue - but this only add to the allure - the mystique - of this varietal. This coffee works very well for espresso, producing a huge head of soft crema.
