Roast Profile: Thick, Syrupy, Heavy Body. Dark Roast Color. Sweetness: Floral, Natural Cherry Fruit, Extremely Bright.

There are some truly amazing coffees available from small-hold farming groups in Bali, most of which belong to cooperative mills that have established effective and ecologically sound cultivation and hulling methods. These groups are known as "Subak Abian" in Indonesia; it's a combination of farming cooperatives & religious Hindu practitioners, governed democratically by a set of communally-established rules.

The guiding philosophy of the Subak Abian is known as the "Tri Hita Karana," or the "Three Happy Causes." It stresses, above all else, the spiritual connection between man and his environment.

This coffee is cultivated with tremendous care in the volcanic highlands of the Kintamani region. These blue-green - almost turquoise-colored - raw coffee beans, unlike other Indonesian coffees, are fully wet-processed. The preparation is astounding, resulting in a brighter, cleaner cup profile than wet-hulled Sumatras and Sulawesi varietals. The dry fragrance maintains a subtle fruit quality, with hints of tamarind and mango. The aromas are beautifully floral, with the slightest essence of sweet mango that slip delicately through.

While there does exist a somewhat 'classic Indonesian profile' - usually revolving around earthy, fruity, and chocolaty descriptors - our Bali Blue Krishna first washes over in sweet aromatics and floral characteristics that evolve slowly and play delightfully on the tongue. Only then, on the break, do the nutty and foresty characteristics - classic Indonesian characteristic - begin to develop. The body is viscous and syrupy, with nutty flavors dominating the roast. Then expect the herbal flavors, hints of wildflower, and a touch of sage. This is the real deal - there is simply nothing else like it. Enjoy!

Stupid good; buy this immediately December 15, 2011

This is not only the best coffee out of many I've enjoyed from OBR, Bali Blue is the best coffee I've had in years from anywhere. Delightfully rich mouthfeel, yet incredibly smooth, bright and roasty. No acidity here!  Layers of roast, cocoa nibs, earth, deeply satisfying and surprisingly sweet.  The finish is everlasting, exhale and you taste it all over again.

I am kicking myself for only ordering two pounds of this, and half it it is being sent to Rome tomorrow so my friends will have something when they need a break from espresso.

Highest recommendation.  If you don't try Bali Blue next time it rolls around, more for me!
